Teen Skin & Getting Started
Teen skincare can start when skin begins to need it — often around puberty, when changes such as increased oiliness, dryness or breakouts may appear. There isn't one perfect age. Start with a simple routine of cleansing, moisturising and daily sun protection, then add other products only when needed.
Notice how your skin feels a few hours after cleansing. Oily skin tends to become shiny, dry skin may feel tight or rough, and combination skin can be oily in some areas and dry in others. Sensitive skin may react more easily to products or environmental changes. Your skin can also change over time, so focus on what it needs now rather than permanently labelling it.
Keep it simple. Start with three everyday essentials: a gentle cleanser, moisturiser and SPF30 sunscreen. Once your skin is comfortable with the basics, you can introduce toner, serum or weekly treatments according to your skin concerns. You don't need a complicated routine to look after teen skin.
The basics are similar, but there is one important difference. In the morning, cleanse, hydrate or treat as needed, moisturise and always finish with sunscreen. In the evening, cleanse away the day's oil and build-up, then follow with your hydrating, treatment and moisturising steps. Sunscreen is only needed during the daytime.
Products & Routines
The TEENSKIN routine keeps everyday skincare simple:
1 — CLEANSE: Remove excess oil and daily build-up.
2 — HYDRATE: Refresh and replenish with Hydrating Mist Toner.
3 — TREAT: Use Vitamin C Brightening Serum to support brighter, hydrated, even-looking skin.
4 — MOISTURISE: Keep skin hydrated and support the skin barrier with Daily Face Moisturiser.
5 — PROTECT: Finish your morning routine with Sunscreen SPF30.
You don't have to introduce every step at once. Start with the basics and build your routine according to what your skin needs.
Not necessarily. A simple cleanser, moisturiser and sunscreen routine is a good place to start. Toner and serum can then be added as your routine develops.
In the morning, always finish with sunscreen. In the evening, sunscreen isn't needed. The aim is consistent skincare that works for your skin — not using as many products as possible.
For the full TEENSKIN routine, use your products in this order:
Cleanser → Hydrating Mist Toner → Vitamin C Brightening Serum → Daily Face Moisturiser → Sunscreen SPF30
Sunscreen is the final step of your morning skincare routine. At night, simply stop after moisturiser.
Allow each leave-on product to absorb before moving to the next step.
The Acne Face Mask and Purifying Clay Face Mask are weekly treatments, rather than part of the five everyday steps.
Use the mask that best suits what your skin needs at the time. The Acne Face Mask is designed for breakout-prone, oily or congested skin, while the Purifying Clay Face Mask helps lift away everyday impurities and refresh dull, tired-looking skin.
Follow the directions on the individual product when using a mask.
Yes. The range is designed so you can build a routine around your skin rather than feeling that you must use every product.
Start with your everyday essentials and add products according to your skin concerns. For example, someone wanting a very simple routine might use cleanser, moisturiser and sunscreen, while someone looking for additional hydration or brightening support may also add toner and Vitamin C serum.
Ingredients & Safety
Farrell Naturals products are formulated with thoughtfully selected ingredients chosen for their role in teen skincare.
Across the range you'll find ingredients such as Niacinamide, Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, Squalane, Aloe, Salicylic Acid, Kaolin and Zinc Oxide, alongside naturally derived ingredients and botanical extracts.
You can find the full ingredient list on each individual product page.
Teen skin can respond differently to skincare, so there isn't one product that will suit every person's skin.
If your skin is sensitive or easily irritated, introduce new products gradually and follow the directions provided for each product. Patch testing a new product before introducing it into your regular routine can also be helpful.
If irritation occurs, discontinue use.
Some products contain Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) such as lactic or glycolic acid. These ingredients help gently exfoliate the skin's surface and support smoother, fresher-looking skin.
AHAs can increase sensitivity to the sun, so sunscreen should be used during the day. Follow the sun-care directions provided with the relevant product.
Yes. Farrell Naturals Sunscreen SPF30 has been independently tested for sun protection.
Testing supports its SPF30, Broad Spectrum Protection and UVA Protection claims. The sunscreen uses Zinc Oxide as its mineral UV filter.
Sunscreen should be applied as the final step of your morning skincare routine and used according to the product directions.
Selected Farrell Naturals finished skincare formulations have undergone independent skin irritancy patch testing.
Because testing and results can differ between individual formulations, we don't use this as a blanket claim that every product is suitable for every skin type. Always follow the directions for the individual product and discontinue use if irritation occurs.
